…IN ROME
stay
trastevere - I stayed in an airbnb here and I couldn’t have been happier, it is a young area with great energy, beautiful streets, and close proximity to all the places you’d want to get to
soho house - it’s huge and the facilities are amazing, I came here every morning for a workout and a sauna
eat - when in rome…
le mani in pasta - a neighborhood spot in trastevere, handmade pasta and an intimate setting. I got the tagliolini vongole bottarga e gamberi (seafood with red sauce) and it was delicious.
seu pizza illuminati - ranked among the top 8 pizza places in the world. I am a pasta over pizza kind of girl, but this pizza can rival almost any pasta dish. I got a classic roman appetizer called suppli to start, similar to what most people would know as arancini. for the pizza I went with their super provola e pepe which was a twist on a classic margarita with smoked ricotta and some mint to top it off. it was - insane.
giolitti - a roman institution. I got a hot chocolate and stracciatella gelato, both topped with panna.
ristorante dilla - restaurant on a charming street which was the perfect spot to stop for lunch and a glass of wine.
la gourmandise - the best gelato I had in rome. I ended up going here twice. my favorite flavors were the pistachio and ginger with orange zest.
retrobottega - a michelin star tasting menu restaurant with a constantly changing offering of food. I went for lunch which was 5 courses and it was a phenomenal experience from the contemporary decor to the inventiveness of the way they played with their ingredients.
trattoria da enzo 29 - one of the cuter restaurants in trastevere. impeccable vibe for lunch or dinner. I went with the cacio e pepe and it hit.
felice a testaccio - a no-frills restaurant with phenomenal roman dishes. their cacio e pepe is said to be one of the best in the city. this was my first dinner of the trip and I got all the classics. roman artichoke, mezzemaniche alla gricia (similar to a caio e pepe but with the addition of guanciale) and I topped it off with some tiramisu.
roscioli - a former family run grocery store converted into a restaurant serving a mix of classic roman dishes, fresh seafood and cured meats. I came here for my first meal in rome and got a plate of mortadella with a selection of cheese and some (a lot) of their homemade bread.
shop
lesley vintage - high end vintage store with quality curation. they have two locations but the one near piazza de spagna was my favorite. I came out of there with a chocolate brown sweater from celine and a blazer tailored to perfection from miu miu
