…IN AMSTERDAM

cafes & desserts:

  • saint jean bakery - one of the best croissants i’ve had period. and it’s vegan which is insane because you’d actually never know. this place is buzzy and in a great location and their matcha is good too. if there’s a line it’s worth the wait, it moves quickly.

  • toki - grab a book, buy a matcha, stay a while

  • cafecito - easy coffee spot with multiple locations in convenient areas, they know how to make a good matcha and their rose hot chocolate is delectable

  • ao bar - japanese-inspired cafe with tasty baked goods and well-made matcha

  • juice brothers - easy juice bar to pick up a juice, their date balls are also delicious

  • oficina - architecturally beautiful cafe with delicious bites, great for breakfast or lunch

  • massimo gelato - best gelato in amsterdam with multiple locations

  • monte pelmo - another great gelato shop in a more convenient location

  • miuz gelato - stands up to massimo in gelato rankings - do I have a gelato problem??

restaurants & wines:

  • cafe binnenvisser - ideally located wine bar with delicious bites. a great place to sit out in the warmer months.

  • soup en zo - great for grab & go lunches. daily soup specials and elevated deli sides. think curried sweet potato soup and a side of roasted cauliflower with tahini dressing. yum.

  • collins (west) - favorite meal i’ve had in amsterdam hands down. quality ingredients, simple preparations, amazing bread. it’s great for lunch or dinner. I got the poached eggs with smoked labne and had to stop myself from ordering it twice.

  • mana mana - cauliflower. I did order this twice.

  • d&a hummus bistro - quality meze, grabbed this on my way to the train station and it suited all my needs

  • rijsel - french restaurant that stands up against most bistros I’ve been in to in paris. french cooking with amsterdam charm. the roasted chicken was a crowd pleaser

  • jansz - small plates, high quality european dining, good for a splurge meal

shopping:

  • filippa k - great quality european brand optimal for staple pieces like sweaters and jackets

  • penny lane vintage - large vintage store with high quality pieces, giving a bit of a hippie-vibe in terms of the clothing pieces. I found a great leather blazer here and a fun dress.

  • rika studios - phenomenal shop in the nine streets area. the owner is often in the store and she is such a talented designed. focus on quality & simple pieces, originally hailing from sweden. higher price-point but i’d liken it to a toteme so it’s worth the tag

  • enso vintage

museums:

  • van gogh - truly a must visit, they know what they’re doing here

  • moco - a cool walkthrough that you can do rather quickly which is nice if you’re looking to spend less than 45 minutes in a museum

  • stedelijik - it’s designed to look like a bathtub from the outside and that to me is just cool

  • rijksmuseum - goes without saying, a great visit if there’s and exhibit you’re excited about

workout studios:

  • K/C moves

  • equal yoga
